The latest blow in the battle to remove Christianity from American public life occurred at the College of William and Mary. The college president has removed the cross from the chapel.

William and Mary, the second oldest college in America, was originally an Anglican school, established to train Anglican ministers. It has been a public insitution since the early 1900s.

The reason the cross was removed was to make the college more appealing to the diverse student population. There have been protests of the removal, but it looks to be permanent.

When these episodes occur, I think of the passage where Jesus said if we acknowledge him before men, he will acknowledge us before the Father, but if we do not, he will not.
