Good news for Cowtown locals. The Plaza Hotel is changing hands and is slated for renovation. In Fort Worth, nothing loses its original name, so locals call this the "Old Hilton by the convention center". It was built in 1974 and was nice. It is also huge. It has two 12 story towers, plus multiple restaurant space.
The hotel has been owned since 1991 by Puson Gch. of Indonesia, who bought it out of foreclosure. It has declined ever since IMHO.
Since the hotel sits right across from the Water Gardens and a couple of blocks from the convention center and law school, it will be prime property if renovated nicely. It will also remove yet another eyesore from our beautiful downtown area.
Let's hope it gets done soon.
