Gambling as a social justice issue: Russell Moore nails it @!

I applaud the decision of the Komen Foundation, which raises money for breast cancer research, to stop sending funds to Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider.

First, I am glad to see anyone quit supporting abortion.

Second, I think it is unethical to raise money for breast cancer research, but give the money to kill babies. Many who would give to support breast cancer research would be horrified to learn their money had been used that way. These days, you have to research what a charity does with its money before you donate. You cannot assume that they only thing they do with your money is the issue they use to raise it.

JOHN LENNON AND CHRISTIANITY

New information is coming out that John Lennon made serious inquiries about Christianity and may have come to faith. Yoko evidently covered this up for years. http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifHere is a video with a short description of his efforts.

Why do people refer to all other holidays by their proper name, but this one by the date? No one says Happy December 25th. But they say, "have a good 4th" or happy fourth of July.

Maybe the fact of independence is taken for granted. The holiday for most people means the day you cook out, drink beer and watch fireworks.

I hope you enjoyed your fourth.

SATURDAY, SATURDAY

Well, Saturday is the End of All Things according to Harold Camping. If you are interested in Harold and how he got to be a false teacher, Robert Godfrey has a good series of articles of the subject here.

Britain will spend 30 billion on security for the royal wedding. It's good to know that modern times have not changed the propensity of royalty for excess.

Dear A.C. Grayling:

Please get your own title for your book and do not steal ours. If you want to write a book for atheists that makes you feel good about humanity, have at it. But do not call it the Bible or any kind of Bible. It is not the Bible. The Bible contains scriptures for Christians. We believe it. If you do not believe it, or think it is important, do not steal its name and profit from it. Let your book stand on it's own.

Or is it that you cannot just compile a book of great thoughts, you must also jab at Christians? A little insult to stimulate some sales, possibly?

Grayling said "The Bible would have been “a very different book and may have produced a very different history for mankind had it drawn on the work of philosophers and writers as opposed to prophets and apostles." Certainly the Bible would have been a different book. Instead of being words inspired by God, it would be a collection of philosophies from men. I hate to say it to a Ph.D. but the best response to that statement is "duh".

It would not, however, produced a different humanity. All of the writings in your book have been available to millions of men and women through centuries of history and have not changed the fundamental nature of them. Aristotle's Greeks committed all the same atrocious acts as every other culture. The reason is not the book, it is the nature of men and women.

Human reason cannot create a better society, for each human reasons his way to a different vision of society based on his own desires. A philosopher may dream of a world where people spend their time thinking and writing in peace. However, another dreams of conquering the world and finds philosophers to validate his stance.

You go so far as to rip off the structure of the Bible. You begin with your own Genesis, a garden scene about Isaac Newton, the British scientist who "discovered". Ironically, Newton was a Christian who studied the Bible and wrote commentaries about it.

I'm glad you admit that the hunger for a spiritual connection continues. However, you cannot, as you maintain, satisfy for many by taking a walk in the country. Nature's beauty speaks of nature's creator. Involve man in it, and he throws cigarette wrappers and beer cans in it. He does not respond spiritually.

If he has spiritual yearnings, nature will not fulfill them. That is why, as many have turned away from Christianity due to attacks from atheists like you, they have tried to fill the void, not with humanism, but with other modes of spirituality, such as Eastern religion, mysticism, paganism or combinations of all of these.

So, I wish you would call your book what it is: not the Bible or the Good Book, but another futile scream in the dark saying "there is no God and I hate him".

It's funny to see CNN's internet page at the moment, giving equal weight to a story that Keith Olbermann is leaving his talk show with the funeral of Sargent Shriver, first head of the Peace Corps.

I guess it reflects current American values. A television celebrity is as important as a long time public servant. I guess it is a good thing no one from Jersey Shore got arrested, or Shriver may have passed unnoticed.

Professor Mike Adams makes a nice mention of Fort Worth in his Townhall article. Read it here.
He also makes a good point that while Christians are griping about the government, many of our problems come from the neglect of Christians to do what Christ told them to do.

MY KIND OF FATHER

William Atwood Sr., of Temecula, California, is accused of using a stun gun on a 23 year old man who sent his 17 year old daughter an explicit cell phone picture. He was charged with multiple felonies.

The explicit picture was a picture of the 23 year old's genitals. If it had been my daughter, I would have tased them in person.

In most places, this is illegal. Many places are even prosecuting minors who do this to minors. Certainly, if an adult man exposed his genitals in person to any other person, underage or not, he would be prosecuted for indecency. Just not in California.

The one thing I can fault Atwood for, he only shocked Moore on the shoulder for about 20 seconds. Moore should feel fortunate, rather than filing criminal charges. Had it been my daughter, you'd still be able to smell the flesh burning down the street.

No charges have been filed against Moore for the naked photo.

What a world. Someone should start an Internet fund for this father's bail and attorney fees.
If you think the Jews do not have a lot of influence in America any more, this will prove you wrong. Helen Thomas, who has covered the White Housefor the Times since 1960, and who continually and harshly criticized President Bush, announced her IMMEDIATE retirement. This startling announcement just happens to come right after she said Jews should "get the hell out of Palestine."

On a humorous note, Helen should note that the Jews have been trying to get the Hell out of Israel for years so they could live there in peace. Israel, by the way Helen, is where they live, not Palestine. There is no Palestine.

you can't make this stuff up

In Great Britain, which has Obamacare of sorts, a 58-year-old transsexual sued to make the state funded health service pay for breast enlargement, because she\he failed to develop nice ones after hormone therapy. No, seriously, this is true.

The good news for civilization is she\he lost her case.

Now, she\he says this violates her human rights.

There is now a "medical" name for people who want to mutilate their bodies to become another gender. They have "gender identity disorder (GID)". It sounds better than "seriously screwed up" (SSU) doesn't it?

The government will actually pay for the gender transformation, by the way, just not bigger breasts. And the government paid for her lawyers to file the suit. Maybe the will pay for someone to sympathize with she\he for being a small breasted trans-sexual instead of a large breasted trans-sexual.

I wonder if there is a syndrome for people who feel they are really birds trapped in a human body? We could call it "species identity disorder" (SID). People with SID, at least in Great Britain, could go to the state run and funded health clinic and get wings and beaks grafted on. Of course, the government would then need to pay for flying lessons.

The government would also need to furnish a mama bird to drop worms in the mouth of the SID sufferer so that they could have the whole bird experience of which they were cruelly deprived by their Creator. Otherwise, the counseling bills will be enormous.

Next, the government would need to set aside trees and the tops of buildings for nesting grounds, and furnish large twigs and lint and string so the SID sufferor could build a sufficient nest.

Every human should have the right to become a bird. It is cruel and unusual punishment to trap a bird in a human body.

I'll bet they didn't think of this in the health care bill. Although, there do appear to be a lot of vultures in Congress.
