The third generation of Kim now assumes the throne in North Korea. It just goes to show, under all the rhetoric and uniforms, their government is really a monarchy handing down the throne through generations. Cuba is the same. Castro handed off the throne to his brother.

All the talk of sharing the wealth just ends up in poverty for the masses, a decadent king and a strong army to shoot down anyone in the country who dares to point that out.

It is a pity for the North Korean people, who live in poverty and starvation while their brothers in the South prosper.

PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE WHO DO NOT THINK THE PRESIDENT SHOULD BE RE-ELECTED

A recent survey shows that 52% of Americans do not think the President should be re-elected. That sounds devastating on the surface, but in fact you should note that you do not have to win the popular vote by a majority to win the election. Because the election is not a popular vote election, the number of votes by state in the electoral college controls who wins. For example, here are the percentages for the last several elections.

1992 Bill Clinton 43.01%
1996 Bill Clinton 49.23%
2000 George W. Bush 47.87%
2004 George W. Bush 50.73%
2008 Barack Obama 52.87%

Bill Clinton never got a majority of the popular vote. George W. Bush only got the majority by a fraction in his section election.

So, while the poll numbers are interesting, and no president wants to be a minority president, the poll is not representative of election results.

WAS AMERICA FOUNDED AS A CHRISTIAN NATION?

I hear this so much today. The logic is this:

1. America was founded as a Christian nation.
2. Christians have lost control of the nation.
3. Christians need to (and have a right to) take it back.

I do not believe the premise that America was founded as a Christian nation. I think the evidence for that premise is exaggerated and misstated.

Consider this. In 1797, the United States entered inot a treaty with Tripoli, an Islamic nation. Its pirates caused us a lot of trouble. Tripoli was reluctant to enter into the treaty, for its leaders saw the problem with a Christian nation and an Islamic nation trying to get along.

George Washington negotiated the treat. It was ratified by the Senate. It was signed by President John Adams.

Look what it says: "As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion, as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Muslims, . . . it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries" (Hunter Miller, Treaties and Other International Acts of the United States [Government Printing Office, 1930], Vol.II, p.365).

So, when you criticize the current president for saying America is not a Christian nation, remember the beloved first president did also.

MORE JOB LOSSES

This will not make the president happy. Borders is closing all of its stores and letting go 10,500 or so employees. Cisco, the computer network company, is laying off 16% of its work force.

Cisco's share price has been dropping all year, so they obviously have problems.

I do not think you can blame the economy alone for Border's death, but it may have hastened it. I think the brick and mortar book store days are numbered.

Nonetheless, yet more unemployed people populate America despite the so called recovery.

NO COMB OVER FOR US

Mr. Trump has chosen television over politics, meaning the Democrats will have to scrap all the jokes they have written about orange comb overs and concentrate on Mormon issues. Romney now leads the field in a convincing manner. He has also raised a ton of money.

The next question is, while Romney stakes out the center, who will stake out the right wing?

THE AYE OF THE NEWT

Newt Gingrich has announced his campaign for the presidency on Twitter.

I guess he hopes the web will be a twitter over the announcement.

And I guess he wants to be the G'rich that stole Christmas from Obama.

He'll have to hope the vote is not too close, or his ex wives alone could sink his ship.

Now that the deed is done, the posturing begins. First, here is Nancy Pelosi. When it might be President Bush who would capture him, she said it would be no big deal. Now it is the biggest deal every.

So, THAT'S why Gas Costs So Much

Exxon Mobile just announced it made an $11 billion profit for the quarter. So clearly the rise in gas prices is not just a matter of oil in the Middle East being expensive.

I'm sure Exxon is a well run company and it will hopefully use some of the money to find more oil, but it clearly is making money.

And of course, the President's stranglehold on domestic drilling is a factor. He says out of one side of his mouth that we must reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Out of the other side he prevents drilling so that our import numbers are soaring. If we could run our cars on hot air it would be perfect.

In addition, you always have to remember that a huge portion of the price of a gallon of gas is tax. The government could reduce the price of gas with one flourish of a pen.

RACERS

I wish the liberals could come up with a new accusation. Every time you criticize Obama, they call you a racist. "Birther" was not enough. When Obama caved in to pressure from Trump and revealed his birth certificate at long last, the press began to call Trump a racist.

Really, is that the only alternative? If you do not agree with Obama's characterization of an event, the only alternative explanation is a racial motive. Give me a break. It is so trite it is stupid.

So, I have a proposal. If we call people who question where Obama was born "Birthers", I think we should call those who drop the race card on every trick "Racers".

THERE YOU GO AGAIN (OR WHERE IS RON WHEN WE NEED HIM?)

Jimmy Carter, in North Korea of all places, accuses the U. S. of crimes against humanity.

Is there no way we can revoke his visa so he cannot return? Every time he goes overseas, he uncorks the criticisms of the U.S. that undermine diplomatic efforts.

In a country run by a mad man who starves, imprisons and represses his own people, threatens other countries to black mail them into giving him food, Carter criticizes the U. S.

It is hard to believe he was president.

MAYBE CHRYSLER WILL PAY FOR THE INVASION OF LIBYA

Chrysler intends to pay back about $7 billion to the U.S. for the bail out loan. Maybe they will throw in a 300 sedan for the President to drive and save some gas.

Since the President led the U.S. invasion of Libya, we are running up quite a bill. Plus, although NATO now leads the way, who do you think is the big player and contributor to NATO?

It' not Belgium.

Although you could run the war for several days for the cost of the "royal wedding".

TRUMP THAT

Say what you want, Trump rattled the president enough to get him to produce his birth certificate. No one else was able to do it.

Now, why the president did not just reveal it when they ruckus first started is beyond me. The issue of your qualification for the office is important enough to deal with. That is not even considering the campaign promise to be the transparent president.

By not revealing it until Trump started his questioning, the president clearly looks to be afraid of Trump. The MSM can spin that all they want, but any observer of human nature will give this round to Trump.

PRESIDENT STARTS ELECTION BID WITH A BANG

Shortly after the President announced he will seek election for a second term, Rasmussen Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday finds only 19% of voters strongly approve of his performance. I guess that cuts down on the number of emails he has to send.

In contrast, 39% of voters strongly disapprove of his performance. The "nays" have it at this point. These are his lowest numbers ever.

Liberals are even unhappy with the President, who came from the left wing of the party. Only 37% of liberals strongly approve of the job he is doing. It could be that they are unhappy he campaigned as Jimmy Carter but has been acting like George Bush lately, invading a non-hostile country (Libya) and helping undermine the government of other countries. They may also be unhappy over his tax and economic moves lately, although you could argue he cannot operate in a truly liberal fashion with a fairly conservative House of Representatives slowing him down.

Still, when push comes to vote, Liberals will vote for Obama over a Republican candidate unless they decide to sit out, as many Repbulicans did to John McCain.

Ramming Obamacare down the throats of an unwilling public will not help his chances of election. The lack of a strong Republican candidate might help him. A truly conservative Republican candidate would galvanize the Left to turn out their vote.

In 2008, Obama won 53%-46% over that guy who ran against him. It is a long way 'til November for all concerned, not to mention voters who will have to suffer through all the posturing while knowing none of it means much.

MY FIRST PROPOSED BUDGET CUT

Since we have the largest deficit ever and our economy is in terrible shape, I have a suggestion for the first budget cut. Cut Planned Parenthood out of the budget. It is one thing to allow abortion, it is another to tax people who oppose abortion and make them pay for it. Last year we paid Planned Parenthood Federation of America $363 million to do something many of us abhor: kill unborn childrn.

So, cut it out of the budget. It will save the government money. It is not a core service. It is opposed by fully half of Americans.

MUBARAK IS OUT

After saying he would not resign, Egyptian president Mubarak left Cairo for another of his residences and resigned. Unfortunately, the military has taken over the government. Hopefully that will be temporary until elections can be held. But you always have to wonder. The record of military forces relinguishing speedy control of the government is not good. It is easy to say we have to say here to preserve the peace, then stay forever.

Without bloodshed, I do not see the Egyptian people putting up with it. Now that they have tasted the power of the people in revolt, they are likely not to stop short of quick, free and open elections.

Rumor has it that President Mubarak will resign sometime today in Egypt. I hope and pray it will not result in chaos.

A federal judge in Florida has ruled Obamacare unconstitutional. His opinion is based on the individual mandate, the requirement that everyone buy health insurance or pay a penalty. The government will appeal. Showdown to follow in the Supreme Court.

HEY HOW'S THAT STIMULUS THINGIE GOING?

Census records released Tuesday show household incomes plunged for the second year in a row in 2009. Fewer families earned over $100,000 a year. The number of the poor rose also.

Who would have thought that giving trillions of dollars to governmental entities would not lower the number of poor people or allow more people other than Harry Light Rail Reid to make over $100,000 per year.

The Administration's economic policy is like the old story of crabs boiling in a pot. Every time one wants to escape, the others grab them and pull them back in. In America, every time you try to escape the middle class, the government pulls you back in either by taxing you or enforcing bad economic policy. If you are born rich, you can stay that way. If you are poor, you can get into the middle class. Otherwise, you have to become a politician or a prosperity preacher to make it.

The London Telegraph calls President Obama and his administration out of touch and extravagant. Ouch.
